Privacy Policy

The short version
OwnFit stores your food log and weight so your account syncs across devices. Meal photos you submit are read once by an AI to estimate nutrition — with your explicit permission, and they are not kept. We show no ads, we do not track you across other apps, and we never sell your data. You can export everything or delete your account (and all server data) from inside the app at any time.
What we collect
- Account: your email address and a securely hashed password.
- Your ledger: the meals you log, weigh-ins, targets, profile stats (age, sex, height, weight, activity), custom foods and saved meals, water/steps entries. This is the product — it syncs to your account so your devices agree.
- Meal photos & descriptions: processed to estimate nutrition (see the AI section below). Photos are not stored on our servers after analysis.
- Diagnostics: crash reports and basic usage events (e.g. "a meal was logged") so we can fix bugs and improve the app. Crash reports exclude your health data.
We show no ads, use no advertising SDKs, and do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. We never sell your data, and we never use your health data for advertising or marketing.
How AI reads your meals
When you use photo or describe logging, the photo or text you submit is sent over an encrypted connection to our AI — a trusted third-party provider that estimates calories, protein, carbs and fat on our behalf. The app asks for your explicit permission before the first time anything is sent, and you can decline and log entirely by hand.
- Only the photo or text you submit is sent — nothing else.
- Results come back as estimates you can adjust before logging.
- Photos are not stored on OwnFit's servers after analysis.
- Your submissions are not used to train AI models.
Where your data lives
Your account and ledger are stored on our servers so sync works; all traffic uses HTTPS, and sign-in tokens on your phone live in the device's secure storage (with optional Face ID). We keep your data for as long as you keep your account.
Your controls
- Export: You → Account → Export my data hands you your full ledger as a file.
- Delete:You → Account → Delete account permanently removes your account and all server data. You can also request deletion by emailing us (address below) — we'll confirm and delete within 30 days.
- AI consent: photo/describe logging only runs after you allow it; declining leaves manual logging fully working.
Who we share with
Only the processors that make the product work: our third-party AI provider (nutrition estimates, as described above), our hosting provider (encrypted storage and delivery), our email provider (sign-in and account emails), and our crash/analytics tooling (diagnostics only). None of them may use your data for their own purposes.
Age
OwnFit is for adults. It is not directed at children, and you must be 18 or older to create an account.
